Frequently Asked Questions
What is a printer test page?
A printer test page is a specially designed document with patterns, colors, and text that help you evaluate print quality. It makes it easy to spot issues with alignment, color accuracy, toner distribution, and print head performance.
How do I print a test page on Windows?
On Windows 11/10, go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, select your printer, and click "Print a test page." On Windows 7/8, open Control Panel → Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, choose Properties, then click Print Test Page.
How do I print a test page on Mac?
Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners, select your printer, click Options & Supplies, then Print Test Page. On older macOS, use System Preferences → Printers & Scanners → Open Print Queue → Printer menu → Print Test Page.
How do I print a test page from my phone?
Most phones don't have a built-in test page feature. Use our free online test pages instead. Open one in your mobile browser and tap Print. Works with AirPrint (iOS), Android Print Service, and Mopria-compatible printers.
What is a CMYK test page and when should I use it?
A CMYK test page prints separate Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black strips so you can check each ink channel individually. Use it when one color looks off, after replacing a cartridge, or when you suspect a clogged nozzle on a specific channel.
How often should I run a printer test?
Print a test page whenever you install new ink or toner, after cleaning the printhead, or if you notice quality problems. For regular maintenance, once a month is recommended, especially for inkjet printers that can clog from disuse.
Why is my test page printing blank or faded?
Blank prints usually mean a clogged nozzle, empty cartridge, or driver issue. Faded prints indicate low ink or toner. Try running a printhead cleaning cycle, checking ink levels, and reprinting. If the problem persists, the cartridge may need replacing.
How do I check my printer's ink levels?
On Windows, go to Settings → Printers & Scanners → select your printer → Manage. On Mac, check System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Options & Supplies. Most brands also have their own software (HP Smart, Epson Utility, Canon IJ) that shows ink levels.
What's the difference between inkjet and laser test pages?
Inkjet test pages focus on nozzle checks, color channel isolation, and gradient smoothness. Laser test pages emphasize toner density, fusing quality, and drum condition. Our test pages work with both; the patterns reveal different things depending on your printer type.
Are these test pages really free? Do I need to download anything?
Yes, 100% free: no downloads, no signups, no software to install. Just open a test page in your browser and click Print. We also offer free PDF downloads for our B&W, Color, and CMYK test pages if you want to save them for offline use.
