Information We Collect

PrinterTools uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on page, device type). Whether GA4 runs by default depends on where you are visiting from:

  • EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland: we ask for your consent before any analytics is loaded. Until you accept, GA4 does not run and no analytics cookies are set.
  • California, Brazil, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah: analytics runs by default. You can opt out at any time using the “Privacy Choices” link in the footer.
  • Everywhere else: analytics runs by default. You can clear our analytics cookies via your browser settings.

We also use Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and provides aggregate visit counts without identifying individual visitors. Vercel Analytics runs for all visitors regardless of region and does not require consent. We do not require accounts or collect personal information unless you contact us directly.

Your Tools, Your Data

All color converter tools and the image color picker run entirely in your browser. We do not upload, store, or process any images or color data on our servers. Your images never leave your device.

Cookies and Local Storage

PrinterTools uses the following storage based on your region and consent choice:

  • consent-status (localStorage): Stores your analytics choice (“granted” or “denied”). Set when you interact with the cookie banner (EU/UK/EEA/CH) or the Privacy Choices opt-out (CA/BR/CO/CT/VA/UT). No expiry — persists until you clear browser data.
  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*): Set only when GA4 is active for your region (consent granted in EU/UK/EEA/CH, or default-on for opt-out and other regions unless you opt out). Used to distinguish users and throttle request rate. Expire after 2 years. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Legal Basis

The cookie banner shown to EU/UK/EEA/Switzerland visitors is required by the EU ePrivacy Directive (and its national implementations) and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). These rules govern whether non-essential storage can be set on your device. The UK GDPR and EU GDPR govern subsequent processing of any personal data captured.

For California (CCPA/CPRA), Brazil (LGPD), and other US state privacy laws (Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah), analytics may run by default but you have the right to opt out at any time using the Privacy Choices link. We honour these opt-outs by storing your choice locally and preventing GA4 from loading on subsequent visits.

This is a short summary, not legal advice. If you have specific questions about your rights, consult counsel for your jurisdiction.

Third-Party Services

  • Vercel: Our hosting provider. Vercel may collect basic server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of standard hosting operations. Vercel Analytics is cookieless and provides aggregate visit counts only.
  • Google Analytics 4: Used as described above, gated by region and consent.
  • Google AdSense: May be used in the future to display ads. If enabled, AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out via Google's Ad Settings. This policy will be updated before any ads are enabled.
