Editorial Policy
PrinterTools is committed to publishing accurate, useful, and unbiased content about printers, print quality diagnostics, and color management. This page explains how we create and maintain our content.
Content Creation Process
All content on PrinterTools is written by Dan Dadovic, a developer and researcher with a PhD in Information Sciences and professional experience in digital publishing technology. Content is created through a structured process:
- Research. Every guide and tool description is based on manufacturer documentation, published standards, and hands-on testing with physical printers.
- Writing. Content is drafted with a focus on practical, actionable advice. We prioritize clarity and accuracy over length.
- Technical verification. Tool implementations (color converters, test patterns) are validated against known reference values. Our color conversion library includes an automated test suite that verifies accuracy on every build.
- Review. All content is reviewed before publishing for factual accuracy, grammar, and completeness.
Fact-Checking Standards
- Printer-specific instructions (button sequences, menu paths) are verified against the official manufacturer documentation for each model series referenced.
- Color conversion formulas are based on published mathematical standards (sRGB, ICC specifications). See our methodology page for details.
- Test page patterns are tested on physical printers (HP, Canon, Epson, Brother) to confirm they reveal the issues they are designed to diagnose.
- We do not publish claims about specific printer models unless we can verify them through manufacturer sources or direct testing.
Editorial Independence
PrinterTools is independently operated. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any printer manufacturer (HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Dell, Lexmark, Samsung, Xerox, or any other brand). Our recommendations and troubleshooting advice are based solely on our testing and research.
We do not accept paid reviews, sponsored content, or affiliate commissions that could influence our editorial judgment. When we eventually enable display advertising, ads will be clearly separated from editorial content and will never influence our recommendations.
Content Updates and Freshness
We maintain and update our content on a regular cadence:
- Quarterly review. All existing guides and tool descriptions are reviewed every three months for accuracy. If manufacturer software or procedures have changed, we update the guide.
- Last updated dates. Every content page displays a visible “Last updated” date so you always know how recent the information is.
- Structured data. We include
dateModifiedin our Article and HowTo schema markup so search engines know when content was last reviewed. - Changelog. Significant site updates are documented on our changelog page.
Corrections
If you find an error in any of our content — an incorrect button sequence, a wrong color value, or an outdated instruction — please contact us. We take accuracy seriously and will correct verified errors promptly, noting the correction and date on the affected page.
